  • Currently manage 75 team members including 7 managers on 3 units: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular Post Operative Open-Heart Recovery Unit, and ECMO Unit.
  • Currently working on the completion of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program. The program consists of extensive education and training of nurses to fulfill the ECMO Specialist role in place of our current third party ECMO perfusionist which will save the hospital millions per year.
  • Achieve financial and operational benchmarks by collaborating with the finance team and developing capital and operating budgets. Monitors and controls all operational expenses and maintains an average of 105% productivity while still meeting average daily census and revenue goals.
  • Successfully utilized data analytics to show the increase in 1:1 nursing care on unit at yearly operational budget meeting to support the need for more FTEs on unit. The 2025 staffing grid reflects more accurately and precisely based on the acuity of the units.
  • Effectively implemented a strategic plan that allowed for the opening of 6 more staffed ICU beds in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, therefore increasing revenue and patient census.
  • Added a new open-heart surgeon to the team increasing our weekly surgical cases. Collaborated with stepdown leadership and developed a plan to ensure timely and effective downgrades of patients to ensure bed availability and prevent holds in the operating room.
  • Collaborated with South Lake Hospital’s intensive care leadership team and helped them with the start of their open-heart program. Developed a strategic plan and had South Lake nurses heart train with nurses on the post recovery heart unit at ORMC.
  • Assisted the organization by sending three nurses to our new Alabama hospital to help promote our units’ culture, the culture of Orlando Health, and help assist with open heart surgeries.
  • Achieved the Silver Beacon Award for demonstrating excellence in professional practice, patient care, and outcomes in the CVICU.
  • Achieved Silver in the Path to Excellence in Life Support from the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) for our ECMO program.
  • Implemented quality rounding checklist tool that is utilized daily by unit leaders and charge nurses. The rounds focus on cleanliness of the patients, patient rooms, dressings, and labeling IV tubing. One hospital acquired infection total for all three units’ year to date.
  • Established a process for checking CHG bath and Central Line compliance that helps ensure fallouts are minimized. Currently 97% for Central Line and CHG bath bundle compliance for the year.
  • Collaborated with Cardiac Surgeons and Critical Care Intensivist to implement nurse led rounding during morning patient rounds. This has helped increase collaboration amongst the healthcare team and allowed nurses to enhance their knowledge and skills in the unit.
  • Worked together with PACU and 5N Vascular leadership team and developed a training program for these unit that is safe and appropriate for transitioning the care of post operative AVR patients from the PACU to 5N which resulted in conserving an ICU bed in the Cardiovascular Critical Care Unit for any critical ill patients coming through the emergency room or needing a higher level of care.
