Summary

I am a dedicated safety management professional with extensive experience working with owners, owners reps, general contractors, and field personnel on wide ranging projects including industrial, commercial, and utility electric, heavy civil, and government EM-385 projects . After graduating from SDSU with a B.A in Psychology and obtaining my General Electrician Certification, I became interested in a career in safety and have obtained many safety certifications, including my CHST. I have over 12 years of electrical experience and extensive experience working with diverse clients on diverse projects including utility safety through San Diego Gas & Electric, heavy civil/ grading, commercial multi story ground up projects, industrial, and battery energy storage renewable energy projects. I have a passion for working with people to make job sites safer through proactive identification and correction of hazards and have a proven record of seeing projects through to completion with no lost time incidents.

  • I am an SSHO for RA Burch Construction working on multiple military projects ranging from 18-32 million dollars. I work closely with trades, RA Burch management, and military personnel to ensure that AHA’s are submitted and accepted for all definable scopes of work and work is performed per OSHA and EM 385 standards. Safety standards are maintained through proactively walking the site and meeting with foreman to understand scopes of work and identify and correct deficiencies, inspecting all equipment on site, conducting orientations, writing incident reports, and maintaining deficiency logs including a daily safety report to track observations and trends.

  • I was the Site Safety Manager for Baker Electric at the Ventasso 50 Mega Watt Battery Energy Storage Project. The project consisted of over 100 concrete pads for battery energy storage equipment, deep excavations for the Gen-Tie, medium voltage (MV) direct burial cable installation, power distribution, and the construction of a 69KV substation. I managed all site safety operations, ensured compliance with OSHA and site specific standards and oversaw higher risk activities including crane operations, trenching and shoring, and substation and site energization preparation and LOTO activities. I worked closely with Baker Electric, sub contractors, and the client to ensure safe behaviors and conditions through conducting weekly site safety meetings, observing all crews on site and making corrections when needed, attending all project status meetings with Baker and the client, and conducting incident reports.

  • I was the Safety Advisor for the SDGE/ AM Ortega Stream View Substation rebuild project in San Diego, CA, consisting of heavy civil construction, extensive grading, and 15’ CMU perimeter and retaining walls. I worked to ensure that the General Contractor and all subcontractors worked within SDGE standards, their companies standards, and OSHA regulations. I conducted daily job site audits and worked closely with SDGE and multiple contractors to foster a positive safety culture.

  • I was responsible for observing both civil and electrical crews working on the Strategic Underground Project with SDGE and AECOM. My primary responsibility as the projects electrical SME, was observing the Lineman who were de-energizing overhead primary distribution lines to demo and remove from service, and performing various activities involved with reestablishing power fed underground versus overhead. I observed to ensure that crews were following SDGE, OSHA, NFPA 70E standards, and trench and excavation safe work practices and standards when performing work. I collaborated and worked closely with AECOM and SDGE staff, FCA’s, foreman, superintendents, and safety teams, to foster and improve the safety culture and align policy and procedures with SDGE and OSHA standards.

The project consisted of heavy civil construction, grading, extensive cement work, crane picks to set equipment, and expansive electrical. I ensured that monthly and quarterly inspections were completed on time and that daily equipment inspections were completed by crew members.   • I am currently a Journeyman Electrician and have worked for various union contractors through the IBEW 569 Union since April 2012. For each contractor I performed electrician duties on a daily basis ranging from bending and installing EMT, galvanized, and stainless rigid conduit, pulling branch and feeder wire, making up panels, transformers and motors, installing lighting control systems, performing HVAC control work, and installing electric vehicle charging systems. In addition to the following, my role included extensive safety responsibilities for the protection of myself and those underneath me. The following responsibilities included writing JHA's for activities including electrical work, LOTO, confined space entry, trenching and excavating, fall protection, and scaffolding, performing jobsite walks, and identifying and correcting hazards.
