I am a dry Lab Technician for U.S. Silica. I work a miniature version of the mill. The mine and other factories bring us samples of DE. I dry and run these samples to see what kind of products we can make from this ore. My job consists of:
-Breaking down/organizing samples
-Loading samples into oven for drying
-Classifying samples
-Mixing sample with 7 percent soda ash for whites
-Burning pinks at 1800
-Burning whites at 1700
-Reclassifying whites
-Processing pinks
-Collecting soda ash from mill
-B-metering
-Collecting XRF's
-Collecting secondaries
-Updating database
I have experience running the QC lab which consists of:
-working with the mill operator getting grabs to make sure we are in compliance for the current product we are making.
-B-metering
-Data entry
-Running secondary testing
I Volunteer and fill in for the QC Lab often.
I have experience in production as I work production my first 2 years before coming to the dry lab:
-Packing
-Operating forklift
-warehousing/stocking
-Operating loader to push down loads after truck dump there loads
-Keeping belts clean and clear
-cleaning diverter's and chutes to ensure no plugs and ore continually ore flowing to the plant.
-Using forklift to move and change out ore bins once full
-using forklift to dump ore bins.
-General inside clean up
-General out side clean up
I also have experience working shipping. This consists of:
-checking ordering to make sure there are no discrepancies before shipping out to customer
-Uploading/Downloading trucks
-Conducting inventories of bays and equipment
I also have maintenance experience. During mill down days I often come in and help maintenance. This consists of:
-inspecting and and greasing equipment on the mill
-Performing repairs
-Replacing items

I was a 2T2 for the air force. I joined right after high school. My job as an air Transportation apprentice consisted of:
Cargo processing:
-Uploading/Downloading trucks
-Inventorying cargo
-Process cargo in DTTS
-Putting cargo into bays based on locating
-Building pallets/ tieing down cargo for shipment via aircraft/ truck
Passenger service:
- Screening and signing up passengers
- Transporting passenger from terminal to aircraft
- Uploading/Downloading passenger
- Uploading/Downloading passenger baggage
- Building baggage pallets
- Conducting roll calls

Ramp Servicing:
