Forest and Coral conservation

I helped several conservation programs while in Thailand that worked to help preserve the natural forests, beaches, and coral populations. While with these programs I did things like help measure tree growth, glue corals to rocks to help bring back the populations  while the tide was out, learned the importance of and helped plant seagrass, as well as spent a day picking up trash from a beach

Elephant conservation

While in Thailand the group I was with worked with Phang Nga Elephant Park to learn about the elephants and their mahouts, mostly spending time following and cleaning up after the elephants. We learned about the logging industry and the history of elephant mistreatment, as well as what proper care for elephants looks like to be able to point out abusive tourist traps. We also spent time with their veterinary office to help organize and move supplies from the office to storage

Daughters Rising

My last volunteer work in Thailand was spent with daughters rising. We worked on a farm in a rural village and helped hoe fields, build pens, plant stuff, clear out weeds, and gather hay from nearby farms and bring it back. We also interacted with the local children after school, mostly through cooking and arts and crafts. 

International Rescue Committee 

I helped local branches with organizing, filing, and distributing donations for newly arrived families. I logged volunteer hours, took notes during meetings, participated in community outreach, and assisted in setting up the houses so the new families would have everything they'd need. I also helped with preparing computers and making sure all the donated chromebooks were in good condition.
