My name is Alayna Thornton, and I was born and raised here in Plainfield, Illinois. I'm currently working towards my degree in Biological Sciences (Pre veterinary Medicine) through one of Arizona State University's online programs. I have previous experience of working with children and animals, however, I have chosen to work with animals as my long term career. The greatest reason is my love for animals and the medical world. My parents breed Great Danes, and I am the person that helps the mother during the birthing process. I have helped birth eight litters over the past four years. Continuing with experience, I completed a Veterinary assisting program in high school. I actively learned how to care for rabbits, birds, sugar gliders, turtles, snakes, bearded dragons, and ferrets since they were all kept in the classroom. I learned about proper animal restraints, how to take a fecal sample and how to prepare it for a microscope, proper communication in the workplace, and basic diseases. I love animals with all my heart and I want to help as many as I can in my lifetime.
