Pilot, aircraft, equipment and avionics evaluations for DOI Fleet and commercial contract vendors. DOI Bureau fleet pilots are evaluated to FAA and DOI standards that I helped author. DOI Aircraft evaluated to FAA and DOI standards. Commercial Vendor Pilots are evaluated to DOI contract and FAA standards, commercial vendor aircraft and equipment evaluated to DOI contract and FAA standards.
Provide aircraft flight and ground instruction to DOI Bureau and USFS pilots. The flight instruction is conducted in aircraft configured on wheels, skis , floats, amphibious floats and includes multiengine, single engine, and turbine aircraft. The instruction takes place of the entire State of Alaska and in all lower 48 states, and includes DOI and USFS special use mission tasks such as Low Level, Off Airport, Reconnaissance, Game Tracking, Glacier Landings.
Flight instruction is also provided on FAA approved Flight simulators and includes IFR, emergency procedures, aircraft avionics familiarity and procedures.
Ground instruction is given to DOI and USFS pilots in the form of clinics that I schedule, organize and execute in cooperation with DOI IAT. these pilot clinics are held in Alaska and all lower 48 States and are required for all DOI Fleet pilots. Ground instruction is also delivered on a one on one basis to individual pilots as needed for initial or additional authorizations sought.
Provide final quality assurance check in the form of aircraft inspections and test flights for aircraft maintained by the DOI FAA Aircraft Repair Station operated by USWFS in Anchorage AK and for aircraft maintained by DOI contract aircraft maintenance vendors. These test flights have prevented numerous maintenance anomalies from being put into service inadvertently, and resulted in safer and higher quality aircraft for the fleet pilots to utilize.
