  • Under these titles plus attending a FAA approved FAR 147 Training Facility I have developed an Acquired Skillset with a discipline to pay close attention to detail in following written/verbal instructions, Blue Prints, Drawing, Technical Data, Shop Safety Rules, proper selection of material-fasteners-tools and use the proper techniques in layout, pre & post Hole preparations and installations.

  • Successfully performed precision lay outs using complex dimensions, radiuses, angles and fabrication sequences including but not limited to performing cutting, forming and bending in the fabrication of parts, assembling of sub-assemblies and/or general assemblies with pleasing contours, proper gaps, spacing, bevels, chamfers, de-burring, breaking sharp edges etc as required in accordance with original design configurations to ensure fit, function and structural integrity.
  • Always use the correct tools, the proper application of specified attachments, materials and approved process techniques of installation including but not limited to precision hole patterns, pre/post hole/material preparations (surface finish, alodine, bond & ground, sealants, primers/paints etc.) Select correct fasteners, using clecos and/or clamps to secure mating parts until the proper solid, blind and/or threaded fasteners are installed with correct head orientation in accordance with work orders, blue prints and/or engineering dispositions call-outs.

  • Completed and passed all written and practical Metal Fitter training requirements, certification and test.
  • I was trained, earned certifications and performed various procedures, techniques and process standards in accordance with PWR/UTC written specification in the lay out, fit ups, cutting, locating and pre/post welding preparations of super-alloy pipe, plate and sheet in fabricating radius skin panels into cylindrical/cone shaped units sandwiching tightly aligned tubing.
  • Instructed/Practiced the safe and proper use of various 3-M cartage, disposable and half or full face airline respirators, chem-etching, remote overhead bridge cranes, manual and electric pallet jacks, operation of air tools, sanders, grinders and their multi attachments cut-off wheels and rotary file.
  • I earned PWR's 6S (5S) Award for assisting in the introduction, preparation, implementation, reorganizing, standardization in setting the Space Shuttle Main Engine Nozzle Department in order for Lean Manufacturing.
  • What impressed Me the most was not simply relying on basic common sense or the best shop practice approach on such critical and expensive metal fabrication procedures.
  • But the proven yielding the highest results in product quality and cost effectiveness generated by a PWR/UTC's concept called "Ready Now".This procedure ensures all parties involved in a procedure where materials and process are costly come together exchanges their input, come to an agreement and sign off before an error can occur.
  • Because these intake and discharge tubing systems are outfitted to meter and transfer Liquid Nitrogen and Liquid Oxygen into the mixing chamber are not just propulsion fuel but their crypt temperatures also act as a coolant to counter act the extreme Heat created during ignition.
  • All the components are welded then ground and sanded after each process using Eddy Current and Surface Gauges in an attempt to achieve and maintain a zero +/- tolerance on the final surface finish so as to minimize any vortex in the flow of extreme heat.
  • Any turbulences in this system could be critical, perhaps causing hot spots, melting the Nozzle's super alloys possible causing a catastrophic distortion (explosion) in the Space Shuttle's Main Engine.

  • Working at an Aircraft Manufacture, Repair Station with a Parts Manufacture Authorization as a Sr. Sheet Metal Technician I Performed as both a Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker and Structural Mechanic Working at an Aircraft Manufacture, Repair Station with a Parts Manufacture Authorization.
  • Daily Obtaining the latest Work Order/technical data available for clarification of assigned goals to be accomplished, researched, read and interpreted prints, to select proper layout and installation procedures gather correct materials, fasteners and tools.
  • In accordance with the work order and Gulfstream Process Standards I laid out material, made cut and bend to form parts.
  • Laying out and installing fasteners and/or other parts to form assemblies.
  • Using XYZ coordinates to locate precise positions aboard aircraft to layout and process hole patterns, install new/ modified parts or removal of existing fasters replace old parts with new parts or perform new installations.
  • Worked to complete Private Customized Jumbo Cabin Corporate Jets where each customer designs their own floor plans presented a challenge to pay close attention to the unique details of both the interiors and exteriors of each individual Aircraft  .
  • I performed a variety of task on both interiors and exteriors: the nose/radome, flight deck/cock pit, vestibule, galley, lavatory, crew rest, cabin, baggage, boiler room/electrical equipment bay, tail cone/empennage, floor board & under floor modifications, acoustic liners, head liners, hand rails, window reveals, seat /furniture tracks, bulkhead partition's/pop-up door tie downs, cabin seats, de vans, credenzas, monitors, flight fones, entertainment equipment, pop-up conference tables, emergency windows, safety equipment, radio /electronic racks, pressurized toilet-septic tank & dump chute, strobe- indicator-beacon lights, tow bar, antennas: Sat/Com-Navigation-lightning Strike etc.
  • I in the installed these items listed I also fabricated their necessary brackets, radius plates, splash covers, shelves from honey cone with stand-offs, rails, wire ways, feed thrus, shielded coax & unit covers etc.
  • Performing these tasks in accordance with Gulfstream Process Standards required not only a verity of fabrication procedures, installation techniques and a vast working knowledge of researching materials, fasteners, edge fills, etc and their proper use and disposal.
  • But Traceability Travelers were required for each fabricated part with progressive inspection buy-offs to be filled out by both the Mechanic and Quality Assurance as proof of Quality and Accountability.

  • Graduated  Mc Donnell Douglas's Q5J Air Frame/Aero Structures Training Program for the U.S. Air Force C-17 Transport.
  • After completing and passing the 6 week Airframe/Aero Structures Course, consisting of lectures, formal Classrooms with written guidelines on the Fundamentals of Douglas Process Standards of Air Frame/Aerospace Structures including Shop Math, Blue Print Reading, XYZ Coordinates, Layouts, Step Drilling Hole Preparations, etc orientations in selecting the correct Tools - Materials - Fasteners - Sealants, etc, read, discuss then quizzed for retention.
  • Hands on Labs Work with Instructors to insure proper fabrication/assembly techniques, processes and procedures are Taught and Practiced.
  • To Graduate each Applicant had to passed an Individual assessments of both Written Exams and Practical Testing to earned Mandatory Certifications required to preform and sign-off work preformed. Upon completion I was awarded employment under the title of Structural Mechanic K2J.
  • On the floor I used my certifications and skillset to become a productive Structural Mechanic: Quality Drilling (titanium), basic Hi-Loc &Lockbolt, Basic Rivet, Alodine, Sealant, Torque, Safety Wire, Surface Defect Repair, Fall Protection, Fod, Hazardous Waste, Aero Lifts, etc.
  • Starting on a gig, void of any structure, Using tooling holes to assist in locating frame stations. We used prints and installation outlines to locate, lay out, drilled and install call-out fasteners with require primers and/or sealants in the installation of every longeron, cross member, splice, stringer, spar etc.
  • Used XYZ to locate and laid-out then trim and shim as required, step drilling hole preparations and selecting proper fasteners to install fuselage framing and skins.
  • Served as Move Captain in coordinating the Safe rigging, lift and moving completed gigs to join and connect to another gigs.
  • Stabbed and shot the Vertical Stabilizer after completing the installation of intercostal and canton Bulkhead
  • Preformed worked on floors in Center Barrel mounted on a rotating gig,  Cargo Door and Ramp was mounted on a vertical gig, drill holes for locking pens with quackenbushes, used twin flute bits to drill Kevlar sandwiched in composite skins, Landing Gear Pods were also covered with Composite /Kevlar skins with Jol Bolt that had titanium pins.
