On the night of August 1, 2021, the Giddings Voluntary Fire Department were dispatched to an apartment complex in regards to a fire. Myself and my Patrol Sergeant responded to assist in any way possible. Upon arrival and locating the apartment, we discovered an adult male still inside the apartment, trapped within his one bedroom apartment. At this time myself and my Sergeant attempted to gain entry in an attempt to remove the adult male from the engulfed apartment. I proceeded to the apartments bedroom window and observed the adult male within the room. At this time I utilized my flashlight and broke the window. I proceeded to reach in and grabbed a quilted blanket and laid it over the window sill. With the assistance of my Sergeant we directed the adult male to the window and we both leaned over the window sill and instructed the adult male to lay on our backs, at which time we were able to remove the adult male from the engulfed apartment and to safety.
