I’m Aleina Gomes, a pre-nursing student working towards my Associate of Arts at Durham Technical Community College. With over a year of experience as a CNA, I’ve gained valuable hands-on patient care experience and deepened my passion for healthcare. My journey began in high school, where I founded our first medical club, Medical Madness, fueling my commitment to a career in healthcare. I’m dedicated to pursuing a BSN with a focus on global health, enhancing patient care, and advocating for greater diversity in the field.
I support the elderly residents with ADLS, monitor vital signs, offer minimal to total assistance with tasks
I record, analyze and monitor patient vital signs, support patients post-surgery. Educate them about post surgery precautions, assist them with ADLS
Organized inventory, managed social media platofrms
Restocked shelves, assisted and planned campus events
Created a welcoming and safe environment for all shoppers
Engaged with shoppers and answered their questions
I participated in a spring internship during high school that focused on exploring various career paths and opportunities at Merck
I was the founder of Jordan High schools first medical club, Medical Madness
My club aimed to cultivate students' interest in the medical field
We achieved this by organizing engaging lessons about the various medical professions, and hosting supply drives in support of our community
I collaborated with Dr. Hey to develop a research project focused on shared decision-making and the 3Greens checklist in scoliosis surgery
Working with my group, we conducted extensive research and analysis to gather data and insights that would inform our study
Along the way, we explored various topics related to effective communication and leadership, including the principles of influence, compassion, and empathy
Through our research and discussions, we were reminded of the value of every human being and the importance of treating each person with care, respect, and kindness
