  • Ensure doctors' orders are current and signed off by parents, guardians, providers, and the school nurse.
  • Create medication bags, including pictures of scholars.
  • Section and organize medication bags by grade levels.
  • Inform the cafeteria manager of scholars with allergies and dietary restrictions, and give the meal modification medical form with the provider's signatures and other food accommodations.
  • Log in all medications given with the date, time, and initials (asthma inhalers, epi-pens, seizure: Diastat, and nasal midazolam), as well as ADHD medications such as Adderall and other ADHD medications.
  • Daily medication pill counts with the school nurse and parents.
  • Give scholars Tylenol and Ibuprofen with doctor's orders or other medication such as eye drops, antibiotics, allergy medications, etc
  • Contact the school nurse when needed
  • Reach out to parents or guardians if scholars are running low on medication, and if medication care plan(s) are going to expire.
  • Prepare field trip medication bags for certified teachers to give out during field trips when needed.
  • Diabetes entry checks blood sugar, carb count, and submits total units of insulin in the pump or sets insulin injection.
  • Log in every visit in the scholar's binder, and report to the school nurse and parent(s).
  • Report any liquid, chemical, or medication incident to Poison Control and the school nurse.
  • G-tube stomach feedings
  • Submit every scholar's health visit in the Infinite Campus school system until the end of the day, and throughout the school year.
  • Follow CDC guidelines
  • Take the scholars' temperatures, have them rest, and observe.
  • Contact 911, the admin, the front office staff, and the school nurse for any emergencies.
  • Schedule vision and hearing screenings with the school nurse every school year, and create a schedule for teachers.
  • Schedule dental screening with the school nurse and the children's hospital dental department every school year.
  • Send over children's hospital dental permission slips to parents, and create a schedule for teachers.
  • Diaper changes and toileting support for scholars with IEPs or medical care plans throughout the school year.
  • Meet with the school nurse with scholars who have medical care plans, IEPs, and 504s.
  • Run query reports of all scholars who are non-compliant with vaccinations
  • Send vaccination letters to parents or guardians of scholars who are noncompliant with vaccinations, so they can attend school.
  • Make sure all preschoolers have physical forms and vaccine records before school starts.
  • Meet with PK licensing every school year
  • Support with Autism Centers when needed
  • Give scholars breaks throughout the day to support the Admin and behavioral teams
  • Provide families with vision, medical, and dental resources when needed.
  • Work with or contact Aurora Public Schools Medicaid clerks for medical resources for families.
  • Communicate with parents, guardians, scholars, and staff throughout the school year with medical updates, illnesses, accommodations, etc.
  • Translate for the school nurse, scholars, parents/guardians, and staff throughout the school year.
  • Contact and fax clinics, hospitals, in and out of state.
  • Report any abuse or neglect to CPS.
  • Clean and disinfect the health office at the end of the day, and throughout the school year
  • Responded promptly to emergency situations involving students or faculty within the school setting.
