Dr. Jorge Cantú’s Lab.
As an undergraduate research assistant at the Department of Biology, Northeastern Illinois University, I joined Dr. Cantú's Lab to contribute to a comprehensive comparative study on gene localization in zebrafish. The research project, spanning nearly two years, focused on utilizing In Situ Hybridization to investigate the unique characteristics of TP53i11a, TP53i11b, and MBP genes.
Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL. Summer 2023
Dr. Brian J. Mitchell’s Lab.
In my role as a summer research assistant through the SROP , I had the opportunity to contribute to a project that delved into the captivating realm of multiciliated cells (MCCs), which play pivotal roles in embryonic development by coordinating ciliary movements essential for fluid flow and cell signaling. Disruptions in MCC development have been strongly associated with a wide range of human developmental disorders, including respiratory tract abnormalities and hydrocephalus.
