Revise and update the Olmstead Implementation Plan to ensure that Minnesotans with disabilities are in fully integrating settings, by co-creating Olmstead goals with the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
Managed and supported the SHIP Collaborative by ensuring that they achieve their goals in preventing homelessness in Minnesota. Co-coordinated and planned their bi-monthly Twin Cities Regional Kitchen Table to strategize and implement their policy agenda. As a Policy Advocate, I supported the capacity of several local coalitions' policy agendas and base-building strategies to pass state and local policy. I trained as a community organizer with the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and lent my organizing capacity in manufactured home communities and multi-family home developments in the Twin Cities metro area. Registered lobbyist with the Housing Justice Center.
As a member of the Housing Justice Team, I implementated my creative project by launching a the Homefull Bish TikTok account to create content related homelessness and affordable housing. As an Independent Consultant, I partnered with Housing Justice Collective to co-design a housing justice fellowship using the principles of Emergent Strategy and Artivism.
Lead the development of the Youth Engagement Plan for the Upstream Project in San Mateo, California. I helped administer the Student Strengths and Assessment Survey and updated the SSNS reports with data from the survey. Co-coordinated the development of the Direct Cash Transfer Toolkit, Maximizing the Impact of Direct Cash Transfers to Young People – Chapin Hall. I co-authored the article "Youth Mental Health & Homelessness: Looking Upstream for Solutions" in Social Work Today. I supervised a group of young people with lived experience of homelessness on the New Opportunities Project, a research endeavor to create solutions to prevent youth homelessness, to complement the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness's Homelessness Prevention Plan.
Member of the National Youth Forum on Homelessness at True Colors United, which is a group of queer and BIPOC young people with lived experience advocating for the end of youth homelessness on a national level. Facilitated and trained members of the Youth Action Society on LGBTQ and Racial Equity, White Dominant Cultural Norms, and Healing Justice. Served as the project lead to launch NYFH's Instagram page. Co-coordinated and wrote breakout sessions for the Youth Action Society Virtual Summit. Co-authored True Color United's Racial Equity Toolkit.
Co-created and implemented the Coordinated Community Plan for the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program. Facilitated conversations and disagreements, ensuring all members were heard, and synthesizing discussions into action. Led several YAB projects, including a survey of youth experiencing homelessness, a training for local homeless service providers about adultism, and represented Nashville as a presenter at several national conferences, including the Point Source Youth Southern Symposium. Built leadership in other members of the YAB, and provided opportunities for other youth who had experienced homelessness. This included informal coaching and connections to national YABS, and national youth organizing bodies.
Served a clientele of youth aging out of foster care, and connected them to school and employment. Launched a biweekly Instagram Live to interview Nashville-area youth service providers. Facilitated the development of the Opportunity Youth Needs Assessment Survey with the Youth Leadership Team for Opportunity Now.
