  • Develops and supervises the implementation of technical and administrative plans for all wayside systems activities, including the coordination and supervision of individuals involved in all electrical power, track, OCS, and signal maintenance.
  • Supervises the technical evaluation of new equipment and techniques in order to ensure that all electrical power systems meet the various government regulatory standards, including California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements, with special consideration being given to the safety of individuals.
  • Develops performance forecasting, plans, and strategizes for interval maintenance and inspection activities following CPUC, FRA, and MTS best maintenance practices and standards.
  • Reviews system failures or potential system failures to ascertain mitigation plans.
  • Prepares near and long-range forecasts of MTS Rail equipment needs and related operational requirements for budgetary and other management purposes.
