• Help guide transport to access areas that can be used for unloading dozer as well as areas safe for the transport to drive through and navigate.
• Make sure dozer/transport is filled with fuel after use.
• Make sure dozer is greased and dozer filters are blew out and cleaned for next use.
• Help the equipment operator unload and make sure it is loaded up and unloaded safely.
• Mark areas with flagging for the dozer/transport to know where hazards, roads or where firelines are.
• Trained fellow team members in firefighting techniques, including the proper use of hand tools and dozers, while prioritizing safety.
• Responsible for generating reports related to time and attendance, fire time, crew time, as well as accident and injury reports.

Duties include, but not limited to the following:

• The use of type II, III, VI engines to suppress, hold, monitor, and mop up on prescribed and wildfire settings. The capability to draft from various water sources such as portable tanks, hydrants, and natural bodies of water. The proper application of surfactant and the knowledge of the negative effect on the environment.
• Educating local community's on the importance of fire prevention and safety, and the positive effects of prescribed fire on the local ecosystem.
• Attended training to maintain wealth of knowledge in firefighting techniques and suppression methods, enabling quick decision making during actual emergencies.
• Boundary marking on state forest's separation between state and private lands.
• Maintaining firelines and access roads on Big Shoals State Forest with the use of heavy equipments such as a farm tractor, road grader, bulldozer, and mower.
• Fell snags with chainsaws near firelines on wildfires and prescribed burns.
• Participating in prescribed burning in the capacity of ignition, holding, monitoring, and mop up on Big Shoals State Forest.
• Performed fuel reduction activities, such as brush and tree thinning, to prevent the spread of wildfires.
• Conducted prescribed burns to maintain healthy ecosystems and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires.
• Issued notice of violations and informed landowners proper burning rules and setbacks for burning yard debris or piles.
• Stayed in close contact with dispatchers to obtain and relay current information about fire status, supplies and personnel.
