I receive and make phone calls to complete enrollments for qualifying Medi-cal beneficiaries. We fill out choice forms to turn into the government to complete the process for what health plan they are able to qualify for. The members are able to enroll into 4 basic health plans; Blue Shield Promise, Kaiser Permanente, Molina Health group, and the Community Health plan. I work at the Chula Vista County of San Diego building full time. I've learned a variety of tech skills and teamwork building here at the Medi-cal offices. Various skills inquired entail the following:
I was employed in this private afterschool program for seven months full time and had the privilege to receive my First Aid Certification on January of 2024, which helped with working Elementary school children from 1st-6th grade. I worked my way up to the lead who taught these lessons every day afterschool for around 1 1/2 hrs. They were lessons in which these children were able to have fun and actually come out of the class learning something educational. I primarily worked on escape room like lessons in which the students had to decode puzzles, solve real problems (such as math and science questions), riddles and competitive games to escape. I could not ask for a more ideal job with my interests. I absolutely fell in love the most with this job as it is something I'm still extremely passionate about. From birth my mother has been a preschool teacher and has taken me to her job every summer since i could remember. The privilege to serve and be of help to children is such a blessing. I feel such a strong incline to firstly connect with them, earn their respect and handle leading a class of 20-30 elementary school children! As they learned from me I can proudly say I learned so much from them every single time I showed up to class. The following skills I still carry with me today:
I was employed at the SAN airport for 7 months full time as well. This small business chose me to work with their three airlines consisting of Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, and the Japan Airline. I was in charge of taking care of people with any kind of disability to get to their gate as soon as possible. My other primary task was to receive the Japan and international flights from Mexico to go through security to get checked into the country before being let into the USA. I learned everything I know now about being in an airport and worked with everyone at the airport from Gate Agents, Ticket Agents, Pilots, TSA, various security guards, Flight Attendants, and much more! Every single person you can think of has to interact with us as part of the job. I walked up to ten miles a day at this airport, building lots of endurance and durability from heavy lifting with carrying luggage's. I can honestly say this is a major factor in where I learned to love the opportunity and experience that comes with an airport job. I felt so lucky to train in and view all parts of the SAN airport and working with people that needed me was even more of a privilege. Entering an aircraft to help a disabled member in where getting to be of assistance in every regard couldn't have gone any better. The times I had to help personally guide a blind or impaired flyer get to their destination with the needed stops and getting to hear their stories where they end our time spent together thanking me for how considerate and timely I got them to reach their gate, way before the boarding time is where I felt heart warmed in knowing I saved them a lot of concern and frustration that comes with being at the airport!
I humbly started my employment journey at 17 in where I landed a job at the mall working with a minority small business'. We served all kinds of fresh juices and hispanic aguas frescas. I earned my food handler card and got to experience the all rounder type of position since it was one employee per morning shift which was the full time shift I worked. I was able to serve juice, make specialized smoothies, cashier, upsell, control the back end of the store, and the cleaning crew of it all! I restocked and would help closing shifts on the weekends. Having to work under pressure where an entire store depends and relies on the quality of the product you are giving them helped me learn so much at such a young age. Being surrounded in another fast paced environment is where I realized I thrived the most. I would say the staff teamwork was a lesson I remember to be bittersweet. As we were all teenagers experiencing our first job trying to figure out how to manage the concept of what it means to be an employee. This is where I realized how resourceful, dependable, and efficient I am when it comes to being the resolver in all my fellow coworkers and customer situations.
