
I worked in many roles at EF as a group leader to ensure the well-being of foreign high school exchange students over the course of a 7-week summer camp. The overall goal is to help students adjust to the United States (especially regarding language chanllenges and homesickness) before they go on to live with their host families.
My responsibilities included managing hundreds of students at various airports, including problems with lost luggage, and coordinating buses to bring all students back to campus. Teaching content, including US culture prep, flight preparation, field day, and a lip-sync battle, to groups of 8-22 students. Guiding a half-day trip through New York City, and lastly, transporting all students to the airport, and confirming that all had made their flight.
The group leader position was a very collaborative one, as there were 17 other peers managing their own groups of students. We worked closley together (especially on departures/arrivals days) to ensure all students were safe and had any support they need.
