Alexander Duncan

Alex serves as a survey rod technician in the field and is responsible for leveraging our state-of-the-art equipment to collect data. This includes using Leica GPS equipment, Leica Total Stations, or Leica Digital Levels. He is well-versed with the Leica Captivate software and equipment. He is tasked with completing fieldwork according to procedure and collecting data specific to the task on scope. He is also responsible for producing quality field notes and survey daily reports. Alex started surveying in 2022 and he accepted a full-time position as a survey technician where he learned mapping and topographic survey, mapping mostly county drains and roadway bridges at HNTB. Alex is currently studying for his CST and working on getting a pilot license for aerial drone surveying. Reliable Installer with [Number] years of experience in [Industry] roles. Construction Staking

Alex brings 2 years of survey experience, including directing a field crew and providing construction staking for Michigan state roadways, bridges and associated underground utilities, right of ways (ROW) and waterways. Alex is knowledgeable in MDOT’s standards and procedures and has successfully completed several MDOT and municipal survey projects where he worked from field data for staking and processed field data into a required deliverable format for client use. He is knowledgeable using Leica Robotic Total Stations, Leica GPS, Leica CS15, Leica CS20 Data Collectors, Auto Levels, Leica Viva, and Leica Captivate.

Right of Way

Alex’s experience includes retracement and determination of the location of legal roadway alignments, public ROW and parcel boundaries and locating, witnessing and perpetuation of public land survey corners. Alex has experience with locating boundary corners, ROW corners, PLSS corners, monumented corners, metes and bounds and fractional surveys. Alex is knowledgeable using Leica Robotic Total Stations, Leica GPS, Leica CS15, Leica CS20 Data Collectors, Auto Levels, Software includes Leica Viva, Leica Captivate, and on-board COGO software.

Hydraulics

Alex’s experience includes performing hydraulic surveys for numerous projects for Michigan county drain commissions. He is knowledgeable in MDOT standards and procedures and has successfully completed hydraulic surveys with drains and roadway crossings, such as culverts and bridges for Michigan highways and local roads. He is experienced with State Plane Coordinate System using CORS, OPUS and checking with NGS monuments.

Road Design

Alex’s experience includes performing topographic mapping and digital terrain modeling. He has been involved with setting site control based off PLSS corners, ROW corners, section corners, monumented corners, roadway alignments and directly from CORS. Alex is knowledgeable in MDOT’s standards and procedures and has successfully completed several MDOT surveys for road design projects.

Structure

Alex’s experience includes control and mapping for bridge and roadway design projects. He is knowledgeable in MDOT’s standards and procedures and has successfully completed several MDOT surveys for bridge design projects. He has used the data collectors on board COGO packages to calculate staking points and control.
