  • Work directly alongside a Lead Operations Manager and a Head Captain to manage a fleet of four vessels, five captains, five deckhands, and two office staff
  • Extensively communicate with multiple parties to ensure all guests, gear, food and equipment safely arrive at the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge located in the wilderness of Kenai Fjords National Park
  • Manage the reservations of three local kayak companies, creating manifests for our water taxi service in order for our company to take their guests on wildlife viewing excursions
  • Receive, package, and ship orders both to and from Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge
  • Collaborate with Head Captain to maintain upkeep on all vessels

  • Ran a land-based coral nursery containing over 16,000 fragments of nine species of endangered Caribbean corals by meeting with my coral nursery manager daily to assign daily maintenance tasks
  • Monition new applicants, perform interviews, and hire and onboard new team members
  • Develop a training schedule for the entire facility that sets each employee up for success in their respective programs
  • Train new staff at the beginning of the season on how to work in the coral nursery, as well as how to lead the Marine Eco Expedition program
  • Construct and maintain motor parts for remote operated aquatic vehicles used in the Marine Eco Expedition program
  • Work alongside my immediate supervisors to develop new activities to improve the program offers at the Brinton Center
  • Work along side two Base Commissioners as a three person leadership team to manage the needs of all of the staff at the Brinton Environmental Center
  • Develop a schedule based on the arrivals of crews to our facility, to ensure that all employees get an equal number of crews as well as maintenance work days and every crew arriving at the Brinton Center gets a mate assigned to them, as well as manage time off requests
  • Determine what maintenance needs to be done around the property, and how best to assign available workers to complete said tasks
  • Captain a 28 foot center console Dusky and take groups of six youth and two adults on fishing excursions
  • Captain a 35 foot Catamaran sailboat and take groups of six youth and two adults on sailing excursions
  • Input scientific shark and dolphinfish tagging data into an online database for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and work directly with the program to answer questions about the data and request more materials
  • Rotate being on call with my two counterparts for every night participants are on property, answering any questions and solving any problems that happen after hours
  • Rotate running a daily meeting with my two counterparts in which we discuss program activities for the day, assign captains to the crews going out on vessels, and pass along any crucial notes to the group
  • Check all paperwork for all crews that arrive, three to six a day, and give a quick introduction to the adult leaders about safety procedures and medical information upon their arrival

Island Commissioner

  • Manage all of the crews, adventure mates, equipment, and program that takes place on Big Munson Island
  • Lead a nightly meeting with all of the mates on Big Munson Island about any changes that need to be made, and their schedules for the following day
  • Determined ways that the island could be improved, and designated daily two hour long service projects for the adventure mates and their crews to accomplish, in order to maintain the island for future generations for scouters
  • Drove three different flat bottom skiff gear boats between Big Munson Island and our base camp multiple times a week through both channels and open ocean, as well as loading and unloading said boat on the shore of Big Munson Island
  • Developed and implemented multiple EAP's for various emergencies that could happen in a back country setting
  • Acted as the primary medical personal on the island, as well as running multiple medical evacuations via boat in both the day and night
  • Remained on call via cell phone and VHF radio during all time spent on the island
  • Preformed maintained on all equipment on the island, including but not limited to, fishing rods, kayaks, propane stoves, tents, and wooden A-frames
  • Worked directly along side two other Island Commissioners in order to delegate work evenly between the three of us, and assure that one of us would constantly be available for any emergency
  • Hosted a nightly event for the crews on the island, alternating between an informative opening campfire, detailing things like safety standards, proper use of equipment, and appropriateness, and a cobbler cookoff, where I would act as a judge for their cobblers while preforming a skit
  • Trained all incoming adventure mates at the beginning of every season on how to lead program while maintaining safety standards and fostering growth out of their participants.
  • Designed and built all 18 campsites on the island at the beginning of each season, and disassemble, inventory and store all equipment during the offseason
  • Work six back to back 24 hour shifts, rotating with the other two island commissioners to guarantee two of us working at once in order to always have a backup in case there is more than one emergency

  • Take professional grade photographs of groups performing extreme outdoor activities
  • Work directly with up to eight different rafting companies to determine where along the river to be posted and at what times to ensure high quality photos of every customer were taken at multiple locations
  • Made detailed notes about which guide and rapid each set of images was taken to guarantee that every photo made it to the correct company and customer
  • Edit photos to clean up any possible lighting or framing issues, in order to provide professional quality
  • Sort the images into individual files for each group
  • Advertise and sell the images directly back to the customers, while managing several in house digital storefront displays
  • Travel via E-bike or snowmobile depending on season to multiple different locations determined by conditions and schedule to capture photographs

  • Lead Out Island and Keys Adventure crews on a seven day, six night backcountry expedition in the Florida Keys environment
  • Performed high-energy opening ceremonies each week with up to nine other staff members to talk about reef safety and the ecology and history of the Florida Keys
  • Lead group planning sessions detailing things like safety procedures for various activities and meal planning for the week
  • Guided crews on a six mile paddle across open ocean in a Polynesian War Canoe
  • Instructed and monitored crews for day snorkeling excursions aboard a 45-foot Corinthian Catamaran and while night snorkeling from Polynesian War Canoes, all while maintaining US Coast Guard safety standards
  • Acted as a first mate aboard a 28-foot center console Dusky, teaching youth how to cut bait, catch fish, take fish off the hook, etc.
  • Lead guided eco tours on an uninhabited island, educating about the local flora and fauna on both walking tours and guided kayaking excursions
  • Safely instructed on a shark fishing course, including the handling and successful release of the creature after being caught
  • Organized and lead a weekly two hour long service project, including but not limited to beach trash clean ups, brush removal, and trail renovation, all to improve the health of our barrier island for future generations
  • Safely drove 12 and 15 passenger vans throughout the lower and middle keys during both day and night expeditions
  • Acted as a tour guide through historic Key West FL, educating about the beaches, buildings, history, culture, etc.
  • Give detailed presentations about the expedition, including fish identification, Florida keys wildlife, and detailed explanations about the excursions crews go on throughout their week
  • Live alongside crews for four full days on the uninhabited Big Munson Island, guiding in not only the set activities listed above, but in cooking and cleaning meals, evening campfires, and all down time between activities
  • Attend a nightly meeting to work with managers and other program mates to discuss any issues or changes that need to be made, as well as plan with other program mates the schedule for the following day
  • Perform maintenance tasks around the property, including but not limited to, inventory, cleaning of the facilities, equipment maintenance, etc.
  • Work directly along side two to five other mates throughout the weekly excursion, to make the expedition safe and memorable for each group
