This program intends to increase Cornell graduate students' literacy in democratic governance to support the development of a more democratic Cornell campus and country.

When Every Moment Counts: Psychological First Aid in Action, in creation with the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, Webinar Developer and Trainer [Currently in development]

  • Psychological First-Aid (PFA) is a strength-based approach to addressing acute trauma post-disasters and emergencies. As an intervention, it has been highlighted for its potential in reducing posttraumatic stress symptoms and increasing survivor resilience. Although not a therapy or treatment paradigm, PFA is a rapid, on-site intervention that can be administered in a multitude of settings. PFA’s core eight steps allow responders to support the response and recovery process by providing a flexible framework that can be used to address survivors' immediate concerns, while linking survivors to more comprehensive mental health and medical services. PFA providers are a key component of response and recovery, and emergency public health preparedness officials should be both certified and investing in PFA-related community interventions. Investment in PFA training and communication products can aid communities in becoming more resilient during times of disasters. This project is in co-creation with Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina's Disaster Response & Relief Hub to aid in the diocese emergency preparedness efforts.
