I am currently a Senior at the University of Central Missouri graduating this upcoming December while maintaining a 3.72 GPA.
Car Wash Associate / January 2021-Present
Being a Car Wash Attendant at Albrite Car Wash I do more than wash cars. My job is also to keep the chemicals filled and walls cleaned on top of cleaning cars. With chemicals, I must match up the exact numbers to the container where it will be used and sprayed on cars carefully, so as not to mix them, damaging a customer's car. I also work with certain acids and bleaches to clean the walls and I must wear proper personal protective equipment such as goggles and gloves, being careful not to get it on me as it will burn the skin. Being at this location for roughly two years I am also in charge of whoever I am working with making sure they are safe and not in harm’s way. This includes making sure they clean the cars promptly and spot-free, but also making sure they are following protocol and wearing protective devices.
While working for Michels Corporation in the Marine Division I would tour various job sites. I would often visit barges, dredges, and railroads to ensure all the workers were staying safe and being within OSHA regulations and standards. I would typically spend 8-12 hours per job site for the day for the entire 10-week internship. This internship allowed me to be hands-on and experience a lot of different sceneries expanding my overall experience. Some of the other tasks I would do would be to provide inspections on the job site and check equipment such as fire extinguishers, cables, and harnesses to ensure they were all safe for use and ready to go.
Being a Site Supervisor for Warrensburg Parks and Recreation, my tasks and duties can vary. I was constantly working with people and explaining certain rules and regulations to make the games run smoothly. When I was the Site Supervisor some of my daily tasks were to take needed equipment and carry it to the location needed. Once the game has started it is my job to make sure all the kids get in and play every quarter while keeping the score on paper. Lastly, for that position, my job is to keep track of fouls to make sure the ones who are a bit too aggressive sit out. My other position is scorekeeper where my job is to keep score and control the clock for the game. This job description demonstrates my responsibility for work and good time management.
While working for Devon Shanks for roofing we would spend weeks at a time fixing the roofs of various houses in surrounding towns. With construction/ roofing, we would replace old and worn-out shingles with new ones to stop leakage from any environment the customer may experience. I would remove the old shingles and paper, then lay down the new paper as a template before putting on the new shingles. While doing all of this I made sure to ensure the safety of not only myself but also my coworkers preventing any injuries.
