My name is Alex. I have been an emergency room RN for 2 years. I started as an ER nurse at Brigham and Women's where I became trauma trained with TNCC and ACLS. I spent a year and a half there learning from the experienced staff. When I was able, I became a travel nurse and started my traveling career at BMC. I am now moving out of my Boston apartment and am looking for a job in a more accessible location.
I worked in the Boston Medical Center emergency department as a travel nurse for a 13 week contract. Here I accustomed myself to a very different patient population compared to my previous staff job in the Brigham and Women's ED. Working at BMC improved my competence working with a large migrant population and substance addiction patients. It also expanded my skill set with trauma patients as a level 1 trauma center.
I worked at Brigham and Women's in the emergency department for a year and a half before deciding to travel. Working at brigham gave me the opportunity to experience all different aspects of emergency nursing. Brigham's ED is divided into several pods, each of which is dedicated to a different type of care. At brigham I was trained to care for every type of patient that might come through the ED from traumas to psychs to boarders.
I worked as a nursing assistant on a cardiac floor at MGH before I became a nurse. On this floor I gained experience working with long term patients and the geriatric population. I also gained experience with cardiac etiologies.
