I am currently a student at the University of Pittsburgh and I am extremely interested in studying the convergence between neuroscience and psychology. My main area of interest is investigating interactions occurring in the brain and developing new treatment plans for people with disorders. In the directed research I completed through my university, I was able to analyze brain activation data in participants with bipolar disorder compared to those in a healthy control and those with other psychopathologies during a reward task. Being able to physically see the differences in brain activity between these groups and beginning to understand what is happening on a neurological level was extremely engaging and furthered my interest in neuropsychology. I believe there is a lack of of treatment plans for those suffering for disorders and many of the options have unwanted side effects. My main goal and interest in research would be to create better alternative forms of treatment for those with disorders, specifically depression and bipolar disorder, that do not have the negative side effects many current ones do.
