University Medical Center | Clinical Rotation (10 Weeks)

Wound Care 

• Treatment Execution: Administered wound care interventions prescribed by the supervising therapist, which included cleaning, changing, and selecting appropriate dressings.
• Monitoring & Documentation: Tracked and documented the patient progress, wound measurements, and responses to treatments, while reporting any significant changes or complications to supervising PT
• Patient Education: Educated patients and their families on home care, infection prevention, and strategies to avoid future skin breakdown
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Communicated patient progress with supervising PTs and PTAs to ensure a coordinated approach to care.

Tier 1 Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine | Clinical Rotation (5 Weeks)

• Exercise Implementation: Guided patients through active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle re-education, and sport-specific functional training.
• Patient Monitoring: Observed patients before, during, and after therapy. Tracked progress and reported findings directly to the supervising Physical Therapist or PTA.
• Physical Interventions: Applied therapeutic modalities such as massage, stretching, heat, and cold.
• Education & Prevention: Taught athletes/patients and their families how to perform home exercises and how to prevent recurring injuries.

Pediatric Physical Therapy

• Facilitated pediatric rehabilitation focusing on strength, coordination, and functional independence through age-appropriate games, activities, and specialized toys to make therapy fun and effective.
• Modify Equipment: Adjusted and adapted pediatric mobility aids, toys, and equipment to best fit the child's needs.
• Education: Engaged families/Caregivers in patient-centered care through age-appropriate activities and specific exercises, stretches, and mobility strategies to continue care at home.
