Most Relevant Coursework

  • Most Relevant Coursework:
  • Pathogenic Microbiology and Lab BMS 602 and BMS 603: Students were lectured and assessed on various microbiological pathogens, and their disease(s). Case studies in lecture assessed properties of pathogens, and their treatments. In lab students worked with various selective and differential media to culture and identify bacteria to simulate clinical laboratory work.
  • Immunology and Lab BMS 705 and BMS 715: Students learned components/properties of the immune system (innate, adaptive, humoral, cellular). Mechanisms to fight disease were taught, and understood by students. Laboratory contained practice with PCR, ELISA, Immunofluorescence microscopy, immunoblotting, and more methods to study properties of the immune system.
  • Host-microbe Interactions BMS 719: Course involved critical break-down, analysis, understanding, and presentation of knowledge gained from various primary, scientific, literature pieces. Journal articles involved studies focusing on relationships between microbes and their hosts.
