Work History

Astronomy Lab Assistant

James Davis
UTA , United States
09.2016 - 05.2020
  • Taught 3 or 4 sections of undergraduate ASTR-1345 and ASTR-1346 Astronomy Labs every semester, averaging 60 students per semester
  • Covered topics in 1345 labs such as Solar System scale modeling, comparative planetology, Kuiper Belt Objects, constellations, the Ecliptic, seasons, Moon phases, celestial sphere coordinate system, planetary orbits, mapping the Moon and Mars, spectroscopy, telescope use, scientific measurement, mathematics, and nomenclature
  • Covered topics in 1346 labs such as exoplanets and habitability zones, solar absorption lines, Doppler shifting, parallax, the HR diagram, eclipsing binaries and radial velocity curves, apparent and absolute magnitudes, B-V color index, black holes, Cepheid variable stars, and Hubble's constant and the distance ladder.

Research Assistant

Dr, Sangwook Park
UTA, TX
01.2016 - 12.2019
  • Observational X-Ray Astronomy using CIAO software, Harvard Archival data.
  • Extracted and analyzed spectra of extremely compact objects (eco).
  • Quantified X-ray luminosity limits by analyzing catalogs of supernova remnants within observable galaxies.
  • Conducted simulations on unseen compact core remnants to determine the mechanics of electron-neutron degeneracy.
  • Developed highly efficient simulations to expedite data analysis of Neutron Stars, Black Holes, and Supernova Remnants.

Research Assistant

Dr. David Nygren
UTA, TX
01.2016 - 04.2017
  • Carried out various experimental techniques to minimize background radiation, enhancing particle detection.
  • Aided in the design and development of Xenon-based Time Projection Chamber detectors.
  • Provided measurements of the high voltage dielectric strength of xenon gas at high pressure and at the relevant RF frequencies for ion transport, as well as new DC and RF measurements of the dielectric strengths of high-pressure argon and helium gases at small gap sizes. We find breakdown voltages that are compatible with stable RF carpet operation, given the gas, pressure, voltage, materials, and geometry of interest.
  • Performed physical testing such as calibration analysis, dissolution studies, viscosity measurements, pH determinations, to evaluate formulation performance.
  • Attended professional development workshops related to elementary particle physics detection techniques.
