Summary

I am writing to express my interest in the apprenticeship program for the International Union of Elevator Constructors. I am a determined learner hoping to be accepted into the apprenticeship program you all are offering to me.

I am currently based in Tonganoxie Kansas; I am excited at the opportunity to show the International Union of Elevator Constructors my determination in learning the skill of constructing and maintaining elevators and becoming a valuable asset to NEIEP.

In my current role as a Drywall Finisher at Higgins Group Inc, I have been responsible for leading teams of finishers in giving high quality finishing to various commercial and residential projects. I have experience in training new hires in the skill of finishing to deliver a high-quality product to these various organizations. I have experience in communicating with supervisors and superintendents to smoothly accomplish their projects.

I’m bilingual speaking both English and Spanish therefore giving great aid to foreman’s, supervisors, superintendents, and other skilled craftsman when there’s issue with communication. I’ve gained trust and admiration from these relationships for translating, therefore relieving their struggle with communication allowing their time at the jobsite to run smoothly and with less friction.

I have exhausted the potential I have being in the Drywall Finishing career. I am at the top of the pay scale and skill of this craft. I believe I am at the stage in my life to jump into another craft with more potential.

I am particularly excited about the opportunity to join the NEIEP Apprenticeship Program. There are many learning opportunities to the complex job of constructing and maintaining elevators. I’m excited to learn all the complex skills that are needed to successfully accomplish the tasks needed to create safe and efficient elevators.
