The Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists was an inspiring experience held in Anaheim, California. The conference held multiple seminars that I had the opportunity to sit in and listen to. Being able to see so many scientists who looked like me was the reminder I needed that I could achieve all of my aspirations. I presented my research project on triple-negative breast cancer to three judges and received feedback and insight that I greatly appreciated. I even received a job opportunity to work with one of my judges in their lab at Vanderbilt. The overall experience was one to remember because it provided me with resources and networking opportunities to succeed.
I presented my research project on triple-negative breast cancer at the Meharry Cancer SURP Symposium. This was a presentation of my analysis of endothelin contributions to triple-negative breast cancer and its effects on women of color in comparison to Caucasian women. I presented to an audience filled with scientists, professors, peers, and family, displaying the research conducted in the lab I worked in all summer including my findings for possible treatments with agonist and antagonist proteins.
