Summary

I am a senior Biomedical Sciences major at Quinnipiac University minoring in biology and psychology. With aspirations to enter the healthcare field, classes in Pathophysiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Immunology, and Health Psychology have provided me with foundational knowledge and have confirmed my interest in exploring the complexities of the human body, health, and disease. I have helped others begin and further their exploration of biology and human anatomy and physiology as a Peer Fellow for my university. Additionally, my senior capstone project on integrative health has helped me develop a whole-person view of healthcare and added to my passion for helping others with a person-centered, integrative approach. I am excited to gain more clinical experience and knowledge as I work to pursue further opportunity within my existing passions and expand my horizons.

I supported students by hosting weekly review sessions designed to assist in continual study of important course content and exam preparation. My supported courses included Fundamental Life Processes, an introductory biology course designed for nursing students, and Anatomy and Physiology I/II. Review session preparation included:

  • Attending class
  • Designing a targeted review sheet based on current material
  • Hosting the review session (review sessions were held over Zoom and students could submit a recording request through a running Google form)
  • Answering student emails/questions
  • Providing assistance regarding studying and exam preparation

A few pieces of anonymous student feedback are highlighted below:

  • Spring 2024 Semester "My experience was great. Our review sessions truly helped me remember and understand the material, and it was a great way to study for exams. We were able to talk through questions and answers which I enjoyed."
  • Fall 2024 Semester "Alexis consistently sent out meeting reminders and updates and encouraged students to join and participate without it being overwhelming. I enjoyed her review sessions and thought her review sheets were organized on important material. She helped me a lot in this course and did a great job overall!!"
  • Summer I 2025 Semester "Alexis went above and beyond with her peer fellow sessions this summer. She was prepared and right away would send the worksheet and the recording out."
