  • I currently work as a daycare teacher at The Bucksport Daycare Center where I am in charge of kids ranging from age three to four and a half. My role as a daycare teacher is to provide the children with the tools and knowledge they will need to enter a structured school setting. I work on tasks such as following a daily schedule, using scissors, writing names and alphabet letters, being familiar with words and sounds, being read a story, and being able to answer questions about what is being read. I also am expected to help the children learn how to regulate their emotions and use their words to express when they are having an issue or need my assistance. I take notes and observe all children in my care so that I can create individualized assessments on each child that are centered around their needs. I engage in active listening with the children and use language that is effective and can be understood by them. I create lesson plans that are centered around the curriculum for the week and ensure that all lesson plans can be interactive and all children can participate. I work closely with other staff members to collaborate and execute both indoor and outdoor activities for the children to engage in.
