- The general summary of my position is to identify, study, and communicate site specifications for Moss sites to hold production accountability above industry standards, eliminate the need for excessive rework, and protect our warranties, all while focusing on both developing and nurturing Moss's client relationships and building trust to ensure the utmost confidence in site builds and final turnovers.
My main focuses can be broken into three main subsects: pre-construction phase, first work approvals/walkdowns, and job closeouts/final walkdowns with clients.
Preconstruction Phase.
- Dive into submittals and document reviews, such as site-specific Geotech reports, to ensure we will be able to meet compaction requirements for trenching, or any other excavations.
- Review the final EPC agreements to ensure we are meeting contractual responsibilities, with and without any RFIs.
- Analyze install manuals and blueprints in PlanGrid to look for any discrepancies and identify any changes between old and new versions that may impact future tasks.
- Develop and implement quality control policies and procedures while heavily focusing on the safety of myself and all teammates.
- Create and maintain a QC tracking matrix, traveler log, proof testing forms, calibration logs, and punch list items for both internal teams and clients as well.
- Train my team and new production teams on quality control principles, techniques, and processes.
- I handle scheduling procedures and direct team members in setting and achieving goals. Staying ahead of our energization dates is crucial; all tasks must be hitting deadlines to make this happen.
First Work Approvals, Walkdowns.
- Create inspection plans for incoming materials from suppliers and drivers, and continue to perform regular inspections of raw materials and components, especially any client-owned products.
- Perform civil, mechanical, and electrical inspections, and ensure all items are up to client expectations.
- Mechanical inspections include pile, racking, and PV walkdowns, while ensuring correct torque values of all mechanical components are within spec.
- I am responsible for all underground electrical inspections: DC trenching, MV trenching, MV splicing, and both DC/MV terminations, as well as being present with our commissioning team while we test the cable.
- In addition to underground inspections, I am responsible for all above-ground electrical inspections: wire management, SCADA installation and landing, combiner box installation and landing, as well as inverter skid and transformer inspections.
- Initiate meetings with the site team and the clients through POD, weekly staff meetings, and pre-task kickoffs/benchmarks.
- Maintained records of test results, inspection findings, and corrective actions taken.
Final Closeouts.
I walk down all items with clients to ensure all remediations are complete, that we are in compliance with our contracts, and that we are able to sign off on all T1As before energization.
