Volunteer
From middle school until now I have participated in many school activities like mentoring underclassmen in middle school and being student council president in my 8th grade year. The roles that I was selected for in middle school allowed me to be a leader in my school and increased my interaction skills with other people. Now in high school, I am a thespian in theater and I am a part of a mentorship program called Kappa League that mentors and helps young black boys. I am currently an officer for my chapter and serve as the parliamentarian as well as a southeastern province board member . Earlier this year I won a competition and became the southeastern province student of the year for Kappa league. I went on to nationals and competed against the other STOY’s all over the world and performed “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway. Theater has turned into a very enjoyable and important part of my life because it allows me to express myself in a different way . It forced me into a world of connecting with all types of people from different backgrounds and it showed me that it's okay to be happy and grateful to receive acknowledgement. I remember being no older than 6 years old singing and leading songs in the children's choir at church. This started my love for music and singing. I am passionate about music and the joy I get from performing. The feeling I get when I am singing and playing the piano in front of people is a feeling that is hard to explain and one that I yearn for. It has caused me to recognize the fact that creating music and performing is what I want to ultimately do with my life after college. I started writing music in middle school and have gotten better and more intentionally over the years. Now as a senior in high school, I know how to write, arrange, and produce my own songs .
