Successfully managed lab orders and referrals, demonstrating strong organizational skills and a commitment to quality healthcare delivery.
The first year I worked as a medical assistant on a research van. We were researching how to best get IV drug users treated for Hep C in rural communities. I drew bloods, gave vaccines, did some wound care as well as sending lab results, and fibroscans to participating doctors who saw people via telehealth right on the van. When the grant for the van came to an end I was asked by the medical director to join the Clinical Administration team which was all remote. I ordered all labs for BLP providers, was involved in our urine drug screen department, did Prior Authorizations, sent referrals for BLP providers, answered calls and messages from members, did all data integration sending results to appropriate providers and sent orders for xrays and ekg's to appropriate hospitals. In the process, I built strong relationships with patients through effective communication skills which fostered trust in BLP's commitment to quality care.
