We would choose novels to read based on what we were studying in social studies and sometimes science. We would use our language skills to edit the essays that went with our novels and units. We had literature circles once a quarter. I also had lunch duty for life skills class every day. I was able to step into any role to sub where I was needed from kindergarten up to 8th grade.

Communication
I believe communication is key to success when working in the community. It is so important to be able to have great conversations and feel comfortable going to your grade level team members as well as school-wide team members to discuss ideas and solutions. I am very strong in developing parent-teacher and student-teacher relationships. I feel the best way to teach students is by connecting with them on the heart level as well as being honest and upfront with parents. Communication is key.
