Hi! I am Alicia Scott, I am a motivated applicant wishing to continue my career as a Correctional Officer with Orange County. I have spent my first 6 months as a Correctional Officer learning the ins and outs of corrections and finding out what kind of officer I want to be. I believe my time spent in training at the Iowa State Penitentiary and getting to experience working at a Maximum Security institution will serve me well in this position. My military background provides me with the resilience and discipline needed in this line of work. In addition, my experience as a Correctional Officer will help me with conflict-resolution and effective de-escalation which is utilized daily in this line of work.
As a Correctional Officer at ISP, my duty and responsibility is to ensure the safety of the inmates and my fellow officers. I accomplish this by consistently enforcing the rules and regulations of the Institution and the Iowa Department of Corrections. My goal is to be firm, fair and consistent as an officer while holding the Incarcerated Individuals to a standard. I am able to maintain safety in the facility by completing thorough cell searches, being vigilant, using efficient de-escalation tactics and performing consistent PAT searches.
