ALICIA SCOTT

As a Correctional Officer at ISP, my duty and responsibility is to ensure the safety of the inmates and my fellow officers. I accomplish this by consistently enforcing the rules and regulations of the Institution and the Iowa Department of Corrections. My goal is to be firm, fair and consistent as an officer while holding the Incarcerated Individuals to a standard. I am able to maintain safety in the facility by completing thorough cell searches, being vigilant, using efficient de-escalation tactics and performing consistent PAT searches.

• Over the two years employed with the Worthington's I formed an amazing bond with the children and had the pleasure of watching them learn and grow. I was able to develop positive relationships with the children’s parents and other family members, ensuring open communication and collaboration on parenting techniques. I utilized effective behavior management strategies to encourage positive interactions between the children and encourage emotion regulation. My biggest responsibility in this job was providing the children with a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for them to be able to learn and grow freely.

• My time spent in the military developed me into the person I am today. The army taught me that I can do difficult things and gave me confidence in myself and my capabilities. It also showed me that I can handle myself in stressful situations and make it thru any obstacle I face. The Army also gave me a great foundation in weapon care, tactical movements, and marksmanship.

• In this position I was in training to be a dental assistant while studying for my Iowa Dental Board Certification.

• At this job, I maintained a clean work space, made drinks for customers, and ran the cash register when needed. This taught me how to work well with others and be a team player. I also was able to expand my communication skills and learn how to talk to people in an effective way.

• In my role as an Infant Teacher, I had several responsibilities that contributed to the safety and care of babies 6 weeks -6 months old. My day to day consisted of giving bottles, changing diapers, an abundance of paperwork (as everything needed to be notated), and ensuring the safety and well being of each baby.

• In this role I took X-rays, performed childrens teeth cleanings, charted, and maintained a clean, sterile environment for the patients.

• At this job, I was responsible for food preparation, keeping the work space clean and sanitized, and serving customers. Here I was able to gain experience in customer service in addition to working in team.

• At this store, I was responsible for taking customers feed bags to their cars, operating a cash register, and assisting costumers with any questions. At this job I learned responsibility and the importance of punctuality.
