Work History

Medical Receptionist Float

Orlando Orthopedic Center
04.2017 - 12.2025

In this position I first started working at one of the walk-in clinic locations as a medical receptionist front desk answering phones, scheduling and checking in patients who would walk-in needing to be seen for injuries, getting them registered and verifying insurance on the spot and would also assist with checkout. Working in the walk-in clinic gave me the opportunity to learn a lot of different roles in one which eventually landed me the role of medical reception floater and I was responsible for traveling between all of our offices if there was any call outs, vacations, etc. I was trained in front desk check-in collecting copays and making sure patients have completed the electronic paperwork for consents and medical history and scanned in insurance cards and ID, I also did Patient care coordinator working directly with walk-in providers messages/tasks when patients need refills or have questions, Checking out patients and helping them schedule MRIs or CT scans if orders were labeled as STAT, Insurance verification, Scheduling patients appointments, Therapy department scheduling and verification, etc. I wore many hats while working in this role. I was familiarized with using tasking/messaging in nextgen and exscribe for patient charting and Microsoft teams chat to communicate through the company.

Medical Receptionist

Family Health Center of Greater Orlando
01.2016 - 04.2017

In this position I worked as front desk reception and checkout for a family practice. I was mainly front desk when first starting and responsibilities included answering phones, taking any messages for doctor in regards to medication refills or patient questions, making appointments for available slots, scanning documents into patient charts, scanning paper charts into new EHR system, sorting faxes, and checking patients in once arriving to appointment and collecting appropriate copays. I then started to mainly do checkout and help with check-in when help was needed. In the checkout position I had access to the appointment email in which I had to keep up with any appointment request to come through and contact patient to schedule. Some more of my responsibilities included being in charge of medical records request and charging fees if patient requested personal and faxing documents if requested by physician office at no charge. If a lawyer office etc. would request records I would send them an invoice for the amount and mail them records, I was to log every medical record sent and if payment had been received then I would go ahead and send the information. I would also get the check in slips for every patient and if DED was written on the back of slip I would go ahead and collect the specific deductible amount for the insurance company attached to patient, If patient was self pay I would collect any additional procedures done in office away from office visit price (Ex: OMT, injections, X-rays, etc.) I was responsible for logging all of the collections for the day such as copay, deductible, self pay, medical record fees, and any medical spa products into a excel spreadsheet. This spreadsheet had to be balanced at the end of my shift and handed into my office supervisor. I became familiarized with diagnoses/procedure codes due to having to enter in all this information for each patient seen for the day for billing process to begin and attach to the spreadsheet given to supervisor who was in charge of billing as well. When checking out a patient I would give them any information from the doctor including any MRI orders, work notes, I would write any letters the physician would need written for patient (Ex: Jury duty exemption, medical equipment necessity etc.), US orders, or referral to outside physician such as orthopedic or cardiologist. I would attach a list of recommended imaging facilities or specialist to follow up with referral/imaging order. This position was my first office position and helped me a great deal in learning so much in health care. We transitioned into orlando orthopaedic center April 2017 and continued my experiences there.

Cashier/Bakery Clerk

Fresh Market Inc.
04.2015 - 12.2015

As a cashier I would handle cash register and bag groceries as I scan the product. I receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debit. I would also be responsible in refunding patients, credits or any change due to costumers. When working in the bakery my job duties included decorating and or making deserts to put into the cold case for costumers and pack baked goods such as fresh bread, cookies, banana nut breads, pies, etc. I also would help in the floral department when coverage was needed, as well as the meat department due to me always being available for extra help when needed to help my follow co workers and management.

Waitress

Jimmy Johnsons Big Chill
03.2012 - 01.2015

In this position I was a waitress at a very fast paced Tiki Bar in the Florida Keys. I was considered head waitress in this area of the restaurant due to being able to take multiple responsibilities at once with my multitasking abilities. My Job duties included paying close attention to when a table has sat due to not having a hostess outside. Every table was greeted with a welcoming smile. Once I would have their order I would process this through a POS system our restaurant was using which was connected to bar and kitchen. while waiting for any bar drinks I would go ahead and make any other drinks myself and Once drinks are down on the table it was time to recite all daily specials and proceed to enter food order to send to kitchen. Once food was ready I would always try to bring out all of my tables food myself to ensure the best costumer service experience possible for the costumers. This company was the first job I had gotten right out of high school, I made my way up through the restaurant. I started as a Hostess, then food runner and ended as a waitress. I absolutely loved the opportunity I had working at this restaurant due to getting so much of my costumer service skills out of it.
