Started as a mentor with the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) for their Operation Hero program; which aims to help children, between 2nd and 5th grade, from military families cope with the struggles that military children face (deployments, moves, being away from extended family). Curriculum focused on problems that stem from those adversities, such as isolation, low self-esteem, anger, negativity, and bullying.
Delivered educational sessions to a diverse group of kids in two classes, four days a week, over an 8-week period.
Implemented engaging curriculum to address specific problem areas.
Developed strong connections with kids, fostering an environment of trust and support.
Upon the conclusion of the seasonal program the ASYMCA Program Supervisor expressed pleasure with my work and offered me a job in an additional program (Teddy Child Watch)
