- Project Goal : Understanding sensitivities of modal characteristics and further verification of FE model techniques and guidance towards design decisions to optimize tire on-vehicle NVH performance
- Performed experimental modal analysis using SAE-J2710 recommended practice to understand the dynamic behavior and sensitivity of tire modal characteristics of a 225/75R16 tire and rim assembly at different tire inflation pressures
- Used Siemens test lab software to identify the first six mode shapes and natural frequencies of the tire under 400 Hz
- Created FE model of tire using Solidworks and used FEA analysis using Abaqus software to validate the experimental results
- Extracted the modal damping values, damping factor and natural frequencies at torsional,lateral ad radial modes of excitation using Poly Max curve fitting
- Optimized the results using modal assurance criterion(Auto MAC) to get better estimate of the modal parameters.
