The students brought in a pumpkin in first grade and the teachers carved the pumpkins for the students. The students counted the seeds that were in their pumpkin. The students were able to touch the inside of the pumpkin and discuss the texture of the pumpkin and describe the pumpkin by writing about it too. The student sorted the pumpkin seeds into groups of five to one hundred. This activity engaged reading, math, writing, and science skills.
