Hanford , CA
2023.11 - Current
  • I have a small book business and I started selling books since last year of 2023. I design book covers for people and ship them off on the weekends.
  • My experience with working alone as a book designer and bookkeeper, my biggest accomplishment was getting so many good reviews from people around the United States.
  • The skills I learned from having my own book business is understanding people. There’s a certain way my customers want me to design a book cover. Although it may seem like just books to some people, others find it personal when it comes to buying books.
  • I take my time designing these book covers for people, because when I get an order I have to do, I’m focusing on the descriptions they tell me they want.
  • When a customer doesn’t like the design I show them, I respectfully ask them what was the problem and how can I fix it.
  • When I set my prices up for my books I go base on the size of the book for shipping and the hours I do for making the design.
  • One of the hardest parts of doing my own business was advertising for my books. I started going on instagram showing my work and with the help from friends, I started to see people have interest in my books.

McDonalds

Cashiers
Hanford , CA
2023.01 - 2023.04
  • As a cashier at McDonalds I would always be patient with the customer no matter how frustrated they were waiting for their order.
  • I would clean the kitchen sometimes and bathroom so the inside of the restaurant would look very clean.
  • Greeting customers was one of my favorite activity working at McDonalds, because it would make the customers comfortable eating inside of the restaurant.
  • Even though I was just a cashier at McDonald’s, I made sure to help my workers with giving the orders to customers.
  • As a cashier, I always made sure I gave the right amount of change I was supposed to give to the customer.
  • When it came to training, I had good listening skills and my ability to stay focus on what I needed to learn.
  • Working at McDonalds I had no problem with being told what I did wrong by mangers or by team workers. I took that very seriously and always did my best to improve.

Skills

  • A Hard skill that I learned from having my own small business is overcoming. When I get a lot of orders, sometimes I would have to set packages up late at night. Although this may not be seen as healthy or responsible. This shows that I am willing to work as much as I can to make sure I get my work done before the deadline.
  • Another Hard skill that I learned from having my own small business is being creative. When I do artwork on my book covers, my job is to make sure I succeed at making my customer ideas or imagination come to life. There is always someone who wants their book cover to be drawn in a different way and I absolutely accept it by trying my very best to make that happens.

Soft Skill

  • Strategic Thinking, by working on projects. Sometimes I would work with a group of students that didn’t feel like working at all. To make sure I didn’t get a bad grade, I decided to gather information on my own time to finish the project. I did this by researching and taking notes so all of the students in my group each had something to say when we presented in front of class.
  • Team Development was a very important skill I learn from a wood shop class I took in high school. The Teachers in my class took safety very seriously. To make sure my team and I didn’t get hurt, was by listening to instructions very clearly and reading the wood shop textbook to make sure what I needed to do when working on a project with my team.
  • Schedule Management, is a skill I learn from both high-school and from my business because when it comes to being on time and sending packages on time, I have to set up a schedule that will help me be focused on what I need to do.
