Additional Information

While attending Mater Dei Catholic high school, I was elected president of science club, awarded with perfect attendance and high honors, and actively participated in the yearbook committee. Growing up on grain/beef farm, I have developed many skills that are always helpful in the workplace. Some of these skills are; experience with ATVs, heavy machinery, tractors, chainsaws, and other tools. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and do heavy lifting

Because of my education, I have a lot of experience in field work some of this work includes: 

  • Using auto-levels and stadia rods to calculate the channel cross section or topographical profiles, with this collection of data, I used the Manning's equation to estimate the for bankfull discharge and bankfull stage.
  • Being proficient in using a English Wading Rod to determine water depth, and using a Marsh-Mcbirney to calculate the velocity of the stream in Cubic Feet per Second.
  • In Watershed Management Field Laboratory, as a class we worked as team to use the Floating Object Method to determine the Stream Discharge of the Big Muddy River. This method consisted of collecting several widths, depths, and velocities of a 100 foot reach of stream, then calculating the average of each to estimated the stream discharge.
  • During summer camp, I participated in an activity timber marking activity, we first had to select trees for the value of timber and then select trees according to had it affected the Indiana bat population.
  • Another relevant experience, in Forest Measurements I learned how to properly use a GPS coordinated system, read maps, shoot an Azmith, and understand how to complete tree inventory plots using a clinometer, Biltmore stick, and a prism.
