  • Serves as a lead worker to team members performing Child Support Specialist I work functions; assigns and reviews work; performs quality control reviews, provides technical support; serves as a resource person to Child Support Trainees and Child Support Specialist I’s, and provides input related to CSS I's performance
  • Reviews and reconciles the more complex (e.g., multiple orders and multiple obligations, and cases with changed custody/third party caretakers) child support case records, including financial information; reviews Legal Action Referrals for accuracy and completeness; evaluates and conducts case review, ensuring correct calculation of support charges, reconciles distribution and disbursement of payments (REGP, IWO, UIB, SSA, ISOS, LIEN, etc.) to payee, issuance of credits for direct payments, refunds, and case account balances; compiles review findings and makes recommendations for further actions.
  • Reviews, analyzes and approves case account adjustments completed by CSS I's for various type of case reviews such as inquiries from custodial parent, non-custodial parent, attorney, administration, priority, court calculation, tax protest and interstate; as well as Special Projects including Call Center, Bankruptcy, Deceased Custodial Parent, S40/TANF and S40/MANG cleanup, Foster Care, and Unidentified Financial Obligation (UFO).
  • Sends out appropriate correspondence along with review outcome to inquirer; notifies other unit of the completion and outcome of the case review; closes case referrals; updates case tracking, inventory log and production log of CSS I's,
  • Implements and interprets child support policies, rules, and procedures for customers and collaborators.
  • Serves as the resource person with expertise in the review and completion of the Deceased Custodial Parent Project since March 2024 to present: Reviews and collaborates with other units/advocates such as State Disbursing Unit and Bureau of Fiscal Operations and responds to inquiries regarding the correct handling of returned, cancelled, escheated, and reissued/reposted warrants; considering the type of payment (IWO, REGP, BNKP, UIB, SSA, INTR, LIEN, ISOS, etc.), date of payments collected, payee (owed to custodial parent, non-custodial parent, IL/HFS (S40 TANF and MANG), Foster Care (S30), other State (S60/S61), validated estate claim, and/or be sent to unclaimed property); case account balance and case status.
  • Reviews Deceased Custodial Parent case referrals from LSU, MRU, CSU and other units; analyzes, determines and requests State Disbursing Unit advocate for the retrieval of payments, and to the Bureau of Fiscal Operations advocate to place stop payment on warrants sent to the deceased custodial parent in error after date of death; examines and addresses type of payments (IWO, REGP, UIB, SSA, ISOS, LIEN, BNKP, etc.) retrieved and reposted for possible estate claim, refund to payor, apply to other open case(s) of non-custodial parent/payor, and/or to Foster Care case; determines and correctly addresses payments applied to S40/TANF effective January 1, 2023 and S40/TANF balance in accordance with the new pass thru policy.
  • Creates a validated CP's Estate Case Account; ensures that all required information is completed for the enforcement and collection of decedent's child support balance (estate).
  • Provides compassionate guidance and assistance for custodial parents, non-custodial parents, and deceased custodial parent estate, seeking assistance with child support matters.
  • Makes referrals for location of non-custodial parents and custodial parents with on-hold refunds.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality while managing sensitive information related to clients personal information and finances.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties of CSS II TA such as assuming team leadership and fulfilling certain supervisory duties in the supervisors absence.

  • Worked on the analysis of various types of complex child support cases by reviewing financial information and pertinent orders reflected in the county's docket sheet, isolated the key issues and problems and correctly calculated and adjusted support case balance; reconciled and posted missing payments from State Disbursing Unit, County Circuit Clerk, and interstate payment ledger; verified and posted credit for direct payments to system via Affidavit of Direct Pay and court order; determined correct distribution of child support collected and correctly issued retained/on-hold payments to the custodial parent, non-custodial parent, HFS (S40, S30), other state (S60, S61).
  • Accurately completed all case review supporting documents in a timely manner including Case Review Worksheet, Interest Calculation Worksheet, Distribution Worksheet, and KIDS Notes; and generated correspondence to the custodial parent, the non-custodial parent and others.
  • Handled Bankruptcy Report/Project from May 2022 to June 2023: Reviewed bankruptcy type (chapters 7 and 13), examined type of payment(s) and determined to correctly apply to the support case balance, support current month, and/or refunded back to the payee/trustee. Made referrals for IWO termination of emancipated cases with zero balance.
  • Completed more than the required average production rate of 20-24 cases per month with at least 95% accuracy rate and filled out all production reports accurately and in timely manner.
  • Responded to inquiries from customers (CP, NCP, attorney); maintained phone contact and initiated correspondence to determine changes in customer case status; records case status changes in KIDS, such as changes in address, family unit composition, and support computation; notifies customer of changes in status and appeal rights; updates data pertaining to assigned caseload by completing and filing all agency forms; makes appropriate entries in case records in KIDS of all action taken; ensures that documents placed in record are accurate and complete.
  • Implemented and interpreted child support policies, rules, and procedures for local office staff, customers, and collateral contacts.
