My work history spans several years and different work environments. I have worked in trucking, customer service, machine operation, and managing custodial staff. Throughout my work history you can see the trend that I am a manager and provide guidance to staff. I am able to understand the dynamics of what makes people tick, including where they fit the best on a work project, quickly getting a feel for their strengths and weaknesses, and how to help them reach their full potential on the job. The Human Services program has shown me that I can leverage my skills in management and customer relations to make improvements in my community and the lives of the people in it. I have been able to see that human services is a part of what I have always done, and that I can use what I know and what I have learned to be an agent of positive change. My background gives me the aspiration to work in human services in community services management. My skill sets of being able to coordinate the needs of people with helpful solutions makes this a great fit. Depending on the population I am working with, I am able to listen empathetically to stakeholders (clients, colleagues, liaisons, and community partners) and customize a program, solution, action plan, or schedule based on what was presented to me. I would like to assist members of the community to develop their skills to increase their job qualifications. A stronger and well prepared workforce boosts the economy because it boosts individuals, families and communities. By nature I am a fixer; I like to leave a place better than I found it, including my workplace and the people I influence.
