Additionally, I earned my OSHA 10 card for Culinary Arts. Also gained the ability to work collaboratively and maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety. I take pride in my work and am a team player who is passionate about my job and all of the responsibilities that come with it. I am committed to providing excellent customer service and maintaining a positive attitude while working. I am seeking to transition into a culinary job where these skills can be effectively utilized.

  • As a student at Job Corps, I had hands on experience in the culinary arts program. Being in the culinary arts program, I also had the opportunity to do work-based learning at a local restaurant, Byrd's. There I experienced the fast-paced work life of a restaurant, such as needing to get orders filled in a timely manner, providing satisfactory customer service, and working as a team, therefore acquiring valuable skills and knowledge in being part of a restaurant team.
  • I also had another work based learning opportunity, where I worked down in the student dining facilities for 40 hours a week, improving my skills in teamwork, communication, and providing exceptional support to events on center such as graduation events, tours, and new intake groups. During this period, I also gained abilities in calculating and adjusting recipes, sanitizing culinary equipment properly, and the different cultures of food.
