  • As a Director of Research and Development, my role was focused on overseeing and managing the research and development activities within the company. This involved a wide range of responsibilities and tasks aimed at driving innovation, improving products, and ensuring the overall success of the R&D of the company. Here is an overview of what I did in this role:
    1. Strategic Planning: One of my key responsibilities was developing and implementing the strategic direction for the R&D department. I worked closely with CEO to understand the company's goals and objectives and align the R&D efforts accordingly. This involved setting priorities, defining research areas, setting time lines for new products, and establishing long-term standards for product development and innovation.
    2. Team Management: I was responsible for building our high manufacturing standards for our company and others. Also, am in charge of building a team for producing these products. This involved hiring, training, and mentoring team members to ensure they had the necessary skills and resources to carry out their work effectively. I also fostered a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging creativity and teamwork.
    3. Project Management: I oversaw the planning, execution, and completion of various research and development projects. This included defining project scopes, timelines, and deliverables, as well as allocating resources and managing budgets. I worked closely with other team members and researchers ensure smooth collaboration and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
    4. Technology Assessment: I continuously assessed our emerging technologies to implement into new products for our cold molding technology and trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement with how we use and view food manufacturing. This involved staying up-to-date with industry advancements, conducting market research, and evaluating potential partnerships or collaborations. I worked with cornell on new technologies i could use in my current work place, worked with them with process and flow control and food safety implications we could use with our new technology.
    5. Intellectual Property Management: I was responsible for ensuring the protection and management of the organization's intellectual property. This involved working closely with legal teams to file patents, trademarks, or copyrights for innovative products or technologies developed by the R&D department.
    6. Collaboration and Communication: I managed strong relationships with other organizations working hand in hand with food scientist. Also, stayed in communication with marketing, sales, and production to ensure every task went smoothly. I worked quickly and efficiently to ensure these relationships with others.
    7. Continuous Improvement: I am continuing to improve our R&D department. This involves to take any classes that can improve my knowledge of any subject i may be researching, take time to R&D other products and materials to better understand them.

8.Working with 3rd parties: Keeping up to date with FDA regulations, NYS health department and working with certification services, such as Clean label project, Gluten free, and USDA programs. I was responsible to send over documents needed for these programs.

Overall, my role as a Director of Research and Development involved a combination of strategic planning, team management, project oversight, technology assessment, intellectual property management, collaboration, and continuous improvement. It is an exciting and challenging position that allowed me to drive innovation and contribute to the growth and success of the business.
