I had been in the Youth Corps since 2019 learning how to be an EMT and getting to know the vehicle we use. During the winter of 2022 I began riding and taking shifts as a trainee and began EMT class during the summer of 2023 working very hard to get good grades and pass the exams. There were labs and written tests in the class, both helped into becoming a better EMT and getting my CPR certification. The labs consisted of different skills such as applying an airway adjunct into the patient or applying oxygen onto the patient. There were also days where we had a unique experience such as going to the courthouse and watching classmates defend their case based on what they documented. We also had drills to make sure we knew what we would walk into as future EMTs that was a lot of fun and a great preparation.  In December I became an officially certified EMT.
