I moved to Tehachapi almost 6 years ago. As soon as I was able to have a car I knew that I needed to work to provide for myself. I was raised to be a hard worker, and never expected life to be easy and simple. If I wanted to accomplish something I quickly learned to make a plan on how I was going to do so independently. I have 7 younger siblings and one older sibling. Most people think this sounds crazy, chaotic, messy and difficult. I have to agree to all of these assumptions. Of course as an older sibling I felt that I had high expectations to meet, I knew I needed to be the example. There is nothing I would trade for my family and the at home experiences that have led me to be who I am today. Always working with larger groups of people and in a constant busy environment made entering into adulthood, working jobs, and having leadership positions in church and ASB enjoyable.
My role at Tehachapi Optometric Center was to openly welcome patients in the door every morning and afternoon, handle credit card transactions, pull insurance information, follow important schedules and speak one on one through the phone to schedule patients for exams. This job has taught me how to build a connection with patients and customers in the brief few minutes we are face to face. My goal was always to maintain patience and make the office a comfortable and a professional workspace with employees and customers.
Working in the food industry here at Subway provided me with further customer experience, as well as adapting to multi tasking in a new unfamiliar environment. I was able to provide a flexible schedule to work any given hours including weekends and holidays. Working in a faster pace job was easy to adjust to along with learning to work with different kinds of employees. A majority of my employment here was spent communicating positively to customers and handling currency and credit card transactions quickly and efficiently. I was also given the opportunity to train newer employees and gain experience through teaching and guiding.
At Learn And Grow Preschool I worked with children from the ages 3 to 5. In the course of my employment I performed the following duties and am charged with the following responsibilities.
- Plan and execute lesson plans
-Supervision of children in learning and recreational settings
-Meal preparation
