  • Contract Description
  • Working as the micro position at Krier Foods gave me a strong foundation on my duties and responsibilities as lead. Being able to grow on these foundations has allowed me to grow comfortable in the following:
  • Conversing between and with customers for their product release and scanned documentation.
  • Handling the ordering for all Quality lab purposes and organizing the annual calibrations and Preventative Maintenance to our machines in the lab.
  • Organizing the schedule between the lab shifts and working with peoples different schedules.
  • Implementing and training to the most current and effective procedures in beverage production and upholding the Standard Operating Practices of food safety and regulating all Critical Control Points.

  • Accepting and overseeing deliveries of lab equipment and or ingredients in bulk
  • Testing and analyzing ingredients to make sure they are to quality standards
  • Taking inventory of lab equipment and stocking as needed
  • Making chemicals for the production lines and for the lab equipment
  • Aseptically plating all plant water data and products for Coliform, Total, and Yeast and Mold Bacteria
  • Testing Boiler and Ammonia waters daily for chemical levels and communicating adjustments as needed
  • Calibrating all lab equipment daily and or weekly as needed
  • Filling in on the production lines as needed and understanding the analytical testing of the different lines for every 30 minute checks and following Standard Operating Practices at all times.

  • Contract description:
  • The Tollis lab is a dry lab focused mainly on bioinformatics in the topic of comparative oncology
  • I worked on several projects either alone or with my group (Cancer Across Species), but all pertaining to cancer rates in various mammalian species
  • I used R Studio to run phylogenetic tests on the mammalian species and their various life history characteristics
  • My last project before graduating was working with caretaker genes in the cancer pathways in ~50 mammalian species to see if the conservation of certain genes throughout generations effected the longevity quotient of the species.
  • Job Responsibilities:
  • Biweekly meetings with my research group (Cancer Across Species) and the Tollis lab as a whole, also a weekly meeting with the ASU grant interns from the Maley Lab.
  • Regular updates in individual projects and assistance on other projects when needed.
  • Learn the basics of bioinformatics coding, working mainly in R but other high performing computers as well.

International Pavilion Facility Worker

Contract Description:

  • The International Pavilion is an event space serving both Northern Arizona University and the Flagstaff community.
  • The different event rooms ensured a variety of clubs/meetings/groups would have a multifunctional space for all purposes.
  • Events ranged from student club meetings, church services, weddings, etc. and this gave me a detailed experience to catering to different people and functions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include opening and closing the building, booking events, setting up for events, and cleaning up after events
  • Setting up can include arranging furniture and setting up the technology needed for each event.
  • Responsibilities also include managing the front desk, answering phone calls, and assisting guests.
