Summary

I have a great passion for Louisiana wildlife, especially the diversity of fish we have. I selected marine biology as my degree with the intentions of fulfilling my goal to work with marine fish and mammals. My goal is to gain as much education and experience as possible and eventually be able to share it with others. In the past I have worked with wonderful companies to help gain excellent customer service. I am a great team player, fast learner, and love to challenge myself in any work environment.

  • Dr. Alberts Lab of Neotropical Electric Fish- During my time in this lab, we explored the spectacular diversity of fishes in tropical South and Central America. Projects involved collecting expeditions to remote field locations, descriptions of species new to science, comparative osteology, and phylogenetic analyses of genetic and morphological data. We concluded my time in the lab with describing a new species of Neotropical electric Knifefish.
  • Undergraduate Research Symposium- In April 2022 I attended an undergraduate research symposium for the biology department of ULL. I presented a poster on the body shape evolution in South American Sternopygus knifefish. I received the Scott Duke Sylvester best poster award.
  • Dr. Wu Xu Lab of Proteins- In this lab, we were interested in the structure and function of various proteins. We ran sequence analysis on a variety of proteins in order to determine similarities between them using cluster maps and structural analysis. We used programs such as Loni and VMD in order to run the specific jobs we were looking for.
