For the past 20+ years I have assisted individuals with diverse needs. Those needs could ranged from mild to severe, with some folks struggling with multiple challenges. I loved my work and getting the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. If I could say one thing about myself and how I work, I would say “everything I do, I with passion”. My drive to help others is what led me to furthering my education. I hated having my hands tied when it came to developing, writing, and implementing programs that I knew would benefit the lives of the people I served. In late 2022 I made a difficult choice to walk away from my beloved career. I did this to care for my own child who was born with her own set of struggles. Now I had two big goals in mind, support her and get that degree so I could help others. So, I obtained my bachelor’s in social services, from CWU in December of 2024. My favorite subjects ended up being data collection and analysis, social/racial inequalities, and written communications.
Being dedicated to my goal of helping make a difference in the lives of people who suffer the injustice of inequality, I put 100% effort into my schooling. This allowed me to graduate from my university with a 4.0 GPA. During which I worked fulltime at my job until the birth of my daughter. Once she was born I had her and her extra needs to attend to as well as my schoolwork. I gave it my all, as it was an additional goal of mine to achieve this status.
