Work History

Teacher

Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation
08.2003 - 05.2015
  • I have had teaching experience in grades K-5 for 15 years. I have served on several committees as well as volunteered time after school to better serve children's needs. I served on a child's individual assistance teams in order to better accommodate each child especially coming from difficult home environment.
  • I have 3 years as a Title 1 teacher working with small groups using hands-on manipulatives of every sort and intergrated technology in my classroom through the use of ipads and a Promeathean board. I am able to differentiate multiple strategies to meet the learning styles/needs of each child by getting to know them on a personal level as an unique individual. It is my job, as the teacher, to meet his/her needs based on his/her interests and abilities.
  • Educating myself and then applying it, has always been my motivation in my life. I believe that our mistakes/failures are how we grow and is what makes us human. I have found in my teaching experience is that students will treat you with the same respect and attitude in which they are given; therefore, behavioral problems disappear and respect is mutual within the classroom.
